Dickens of London is available at 200 of America’s finest specialty retailers.

By Joseph DeAcetis On April 21, 2011 · In Eye Wear

Man is condemned to be free; because once thrown into the world, he is responsible for everything he does.-Jean-Paul Sartre
Scene and be seen: In the past, shopping for the right eyewear was an arduous task. Until recently, the eyewear industry had abundant reasons not to take the extra time to place on exceptional design and precious metals. Thankfully, in the immediacy of today’s fast-paced world, the important exception to the demands of efficiency, form and function seem not only to have fallen upon us but rather are here to stay with us. Despite his formidable record as superior craftsman, intricate designer, and technical genius; Nader Zadi, creative director of “RARE” bespoke eyewear, chooses professional deliberateness in his precision of style and quality. It is world class designed for world travelers and recognizing this exceptional product is the first step in a positive visionary change of a lifetime.

In building a lifestyle brand, material matters. Therefore, “Hold’em up in Style”. Known for its line of men’s belts and accessories, Torino is introducing a tough yet soft and friendly collection this season. This core of excellence never loses its masculine edge thanks to subtle colors and classic buckles. The collection is aimed at the ambitious and entrepreneurial man who is looking to take control of his wardrobe. Belts will be getting just as much fashion attention this season as silhouettes. Look for these luxurious suede’s in brown, white and blue as well as leathers with lots of personality. Brush off finishes will be important this spring/summer 2011. Torino is on the right track this season in subtle colors as well as thinner belts worn with casual slimmer suits for the younger customer. All by Torino.

In the Pocket

Carelessness in dressing is moral suicide. ~Honoré de Balzac
Look Squared Away: Every dashing dandy knows the insider’s secret to a spot-on fashion statement is the right pocket square. This Spring, J.M. Dickens’ boldly expressive, “Nickel Dot” pocket square collection is all it takes to add a dashing splash of revved-up color to any suit jacket or sport coat. All silk and available in 12 vibrant color combinations – all high contrast shades that pit the counterpoint of a white, nickel-dot size polka dot against an amped bright – J.M. Dickens of London is available at 200 of America’s finest specialty retailers.

If Dickens’ new Nickel Dot collection is too daringly adventurous, then opt for something tamer from its wide ranging collection of polka dots that starts with the very sophisticated look of Jujube-sized dots, then zooms up to its boldly audacious, Nickel Dots. All boast hand-rolled and hand-stitched edge piping. Whether the elegant look of a mini-dot or dandified Nickel Dot, retail price is in the $75 neighborhood.

“Polka dot fashion craze originated in France in the mid-1850s, then instantly became a sensation throughout Europe, its popularity sped on the heels of Napoleon III’s passion for the Polka Mazurka’s composed by Johann Strauss II. The Austrian-born Strauss, a frequent guest of Napoleon III’s, was considered France’s unofficial court composer during the Emperor’s 18-year reign (1852-1870).

Driven by his passion for Strauss’s Polka-inspired waltzes, Napoleon began importing native polka troupes from Czechoslovakia to entertain the French court. The peasant Czech polka troupes performed in their native folk fashions: white cotton cloth accented with sprinkles of either large or small dots. Hence, “Polka dots.” Thanks to the musical craze, France’s aristocrats immediately adopted the peasant-inspired, polka dot motif in their fashions, from home interiors to apparel. The rest of Europe, jumped on the bandwagon, immediately, turning polka dots into one of fashion’s first, pattern-motif crazes.

Pulka — which means translates to “half-step”– is the true Czech word for both the dance and the native folk motif. But “Polka” — which means “Polish girl” in Czech — became the popular, phonetic translation throughout Europe, and consequently, its modern spelling. The Czech reference to Polish girl, by the way, also explains how the Polka erringly earned its reputation as a Polish folk dance.”

High Hollywood

By Joseph DeAcetis On April 13, 2011 · In Accessories, Casual, Fall/Winter Preview 2011, Mens, Pants, Suit

“The only reason they come to see me is that I know that life is great, and they know I know it.” – Clark Gable
Fundamentally, style history is a collection of stories about people. Adrian Jules believes these stories are compelling enough to attract a broader audience to style preservation. This philosophy turns conventional wisdom on its head – as anything you save in your style arsenal actually has no value until you put that personal connotation on it. Does menswear past have a future? Drawing on decades of archival film and photographs, menswear firm, Adrian Jules, – Custom Bespoke Clothing says “yes” as the highlights in style and technology has made it possible. Here, we tell the story of wool flannel Hollywood waistband slacks with double-pleat front. All “Made in the USA” fine menswear. The widespread appeal of this tailored clothier has certainly validated menswear’s new approach of quality tailored clothing made in the USA. Sport jacket by Adrian Jules Custom Bespoke Clothing

Process Analysis

By Joseph DeAcetis On April 1, 2011 · In Fashion, Mens, Power, Ties

Taking apart a process in order to better understand how it functions is the “Process Analysis”. Planning a good process requires a firm to include all the essential steps in the correct sequence. In the tech world of “fast fashion”, it is most certainly refreshing when a luxury menswear firm as LA CAMICERIA Italiana explains to the consumer the significance and usefulness of the design endeavor and technique.
