Most early accessories, from buttons and cuff links to belt straps and belt buckles, even the knot of the four-in-hand tie, owe their design inspiration to either equestrian or nautical themes.  Likewise the design of this “bridle bit” toggle which was borrowed from equestrian tack and ranks among cufflinks’ earliest, most enduringly popular and still iconic styles.   By Baade-
